Cities Regain Identity and Image

The CRII project is a transnational project funded by 48 % from the European Regional Development Fund through Interreg III B North West Europe Programme. The project started in December 2004 in the eight partner cities:
  • Hagen, D (Lead Partner)
  • Leeds, UK
  • Leverkusen, D
  • Kaiserslautern, D
  • Southampton, UK
  • Brugge, B
  • Bristol, UK
  • Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, NL

The aim of the CRII project is to help increase the attractiveness of European Cities by promoting the restoration or further development of their identity, their image and variety!

The project is looking at the issues of image and identity, which is top of most European cities agendas. Competition is strong and destinations are competing to attract citizens, tourists and investors in an increasingly globalised world. By focusing on identity and image as crucial success factors, cities can improve their attractiveness.

The CRII project is currently producing a toolkit that is a "snpashot" in time comprising a series of live-projects (case studies) in the CRII-partner cities from which a series of concepts, processes and tools are beeing developed to aid regaining identity and image in the cities of North Western Europe.
This website shows the work on the toolkit in progress and will permanently be upgraded!
